Description: The individual responsible for the final financial affairs of a deceased Tribal Elder with a balance in the Elder fund can apply the remaining balance to Bereavement expenses. Payment will be made directly to the funeral home unless otherwise showing payment in full on the billing statement, the individual responsible for payment of the final expenses will be reimbursed up to the $6,500 from the Bereavement Fund. Application for Bereavement assistance must be made within Ninety (90) days of the date of death.

Eligibility: Seneca-Cayuga tribal members only

Assistance or Amount Available: Up to $6500

Requirements: Application must be submitted to the Seneca-Cayuga Claims Committee within 90 days of date of death.
1. Completed Bereavement Application by family member or authorized representative
2. Copy of Deceased Tribal members enrollment card.
3. Copy of Official Notice of Death (State Certified Death Certificate, Newspaper Published Obituary)
4. Copy of funeral home billing statement.
