Program Description

The purpose of the ICDBG Program is the development of viable Indian and Alaska Native communities, including the creation of decent housing, suitable living environments, and economic opportunities primarily for persons with low- and moderate- incomes as defined in 24 CFR 1003.4. The Office of Native American Programs (ONAP) in HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing administers the program.

All Federally recognized Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Villages are eligible to participate in the ICDBG Program. Only one ICDBG application may be submitted for each area within the jurisdiction of an entity eligible under 24 CFR 1003.

Applications are awarded on a competitive basis in accordance with selection criteria contained in a regulation promulgated by the Secretary after notice and public comment.

ICDBG funds are currently being used to expand the tribe’s infrastructure with Water and Wastewater Systems, with past projects the Tribe has been provided with community facilities (Multi-Purpose Center Senior Nutrition Center, Day Care Center, Human Resource Center, Renovated the Tribal Offices in Miami, Expanded the Clinic in Miami, and four parking lots) over the last few years.
