FACT SHEET
1. Tribal members are a significant part of
the community.
The Seneca-Cayuga Tribe has 4,400 members, about half of whom live in this area. We are committed to being good neighbors and paying our fair share for city services.
2. Current tribal businesses already
provide many well-paying jobs in the area.
The Tribe currently employs about 330 people in this community. These jobs average nearly twice the minimum wage, with excellent health, dental, and retirement benefits.
3. The new casino is projected to pay more
than $1 million annually in taxes.
The tribe’s current casino has already paid more than $1 million under a 6% gaming tax which goes directly to support public schools.
4. The Tribe reinvests its profits into the
community to support local families.
The Tribe distributes more than $3 million a year to families and individuals needing assistance with medical, dental, housing, utility, and other expenses. In addition, tribal elders receive a generous pension payment, and students receive educational assistance all the way through graduate school. The Tribe also makes many donations to community organizations such as children’s sport teams and youth camps.
5. Casino expansion will multiply these
benefits for the community.
About 450 new, well-paying jobs will be created. The city and area businesses will benefit by having the highest quality hotel and restaurants in the entire region. We are also using local contractors wherever possible.
